Welcome

Welcome to Wootton-on-the-Cam, a New Town which was established in 1989. It was founded where the original village of Greater Wootton, a village that can trace its history back to 1085 and gets a mentioned in the Domesday Book.

The town has been built on the backs on the River Cam to the east and bordered by Meadow End Forest to the west.

The town was developed in five phases with the latest being completed in 2000.

Although there is no historical industry, there is an abandoned airfield nearby which has been turned into an industry and enterprise zone utilising the existing buildings and landscapes.

The hotel traces its history back 400 years and the rustic design gives the guest a quaint and enjoyable stay. They can give you a version of the town's history if you ask nicely. Remember your P's & Q's.

The town of Wootton-on-the-Cam has a rich history going back to the first mention in the Domesday Book when it was known as the village of Great Wootton.

Trying to keep the heritage and history the New Town has been designed and built keeping the essence of history, heritage and cleanliness.

It has a wonderful selection unique shops, pubs and attractions.

We try to make sure the town is kept clean and tidy, and we pride ourselves on being graffiti free. Pubs and other events close and 9pm keeping the town quiet in the later evening.

Smell the freshness as the bakeries serve fresh bread every day except Sundays.

All businesses close on Sunday, so everyone gets the rest they deserve.


Tourists are encouraged to visit, spend money, then go away at the end of the day.
