Former Police Chief Inspector Robert Jennings has made headlines with the reopening of the inquest into the death of Kenny Goldsmith. Jennings, who retired in 2001, wrote a book titled "Unsolved Deaths from East Anglia" in 2005, and in it, he discussed the case of Goldsmith, who died in 1984.

Jennings had crossed paths with the case while on secondment from Boston, but he had only overseen the initial stages of the investigation. He regretted that he had never been able to see it through to the end, and so he wrote about it in his book. Recently, some amateur podcasters came across the same case and started investigating it themselves. They reached out to Jennings, and together, they were able to uncover some new information.

Thanks to the fresh perspective and new information, the inquest into Kenny Goldsmith's death was reopened, which could finally bring closure to his family after almost four decades of waiting. The result of the inquest was expected anytime soon.

Jennings' book, which features other unsolved deaths from East Anglia, has gained renewed attention thanks to his involvement in the Goldsmith case. Despite his retirement, Jennings continues to contribute to the community through his work and has proven that it's never too late to make a difference.
